Key Facts about Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT)
Cognitive behaviour therapy (CBT) is a type of therapy that can help with both psychological and physical health problems.
CBT focuses on how your thoughts and beliefs affect your actions and feelings.
By understanding how you think and behave, you can better manage challenges you find difficult.
CBT teaches you skills to examine and challenge unhelpful thoughts and behaviours—you can use these skills throughout your life.
To access CBT, speak to your doctor, who can refer you to a mental health professional, such as a psychologist, psychiatrist, mental health nurse, or counsellor.

Key Facts about Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT)
Dialectical behaviour therapy (DBT) is a type of cognitive behaviour therapy, or ‘talking therapy’, designed to support emotional well-being.
It is particularly effective for individuals with borderline personality disorder (BPD) or other conditions involving challenges in regulating strong emotions.
DBT teaches both ‘acceptance-oriented’ and ‘change-oriented’ skills—seemingly opposite skills that together help you embrace your unique journey while fostering positive change towards your goals.
You will learn key skills, including mindfulness, distress tolerance, emotion regulation, and interpersonal effectiveness, to navigate life’s challenges.
At Life Threads Therapy, our person-centred DBT approach includes individual and group sessions, with telephone support available for moments of crisis, tailored to honour your needs.

Key Facts about the Circle of Security
The Circle of Security is a visual guide to attachment, helping caregivers understand and meet their children’s emotional needs through nurturing relationships.
It illustrates how children balance exploration (going out) with the need for comfort and safety (coming in), with caregivers serving as a secure base and safe haven.
